In spite of more and more advanced safety features being included in all classes of cars, auto accidents are on the rise.
This coupled with an increasing cost to repair cars (partly due to the aforementioned increase in safety technologies) means auto insurance rates are going up. The main culprit…distracted driving. The statistics are both staggering and scary. I commute 30 miles to and from work on Route 495 in Massachusetts and I have started paying closer attention to my fellow commuters (in a non-distracted sort of way). The results of my informal study: 1 out of 5 drivers on 495 South from Newburyport to Lowell are at least holding a phone in their hand as they drive. So, what can we do about it? Put your phone down, stay alert to your surroundings on the road, and leave plenty of space between you and the car in front of you.
Drive safely!
